The only time I’d been in the vicinity before was during the Johnnie Walker Circuit Party in the Flower Dome, and seeing we went straight into the venue indoors and didn’t even have time to walk around, I never considered myself as ever been to Gardens by the Bay before. We were supposed to meet a bunch of friends at Indochine@SuperTree that evening and took the opportunity to have a little walk around before.
Unknowingly, we’d arrived just in time for the OCBC Garden Rhapsody show – a beautiful display of lights and sounds. We then discovered the show actually plays twice daily, first at 7.45pm and then at 8.45pm.
The cooled conservatories and the OCBC skyway close at 9pm, whereas the non-ticketed outdoor gardens open till 2am at night. We finally found our SuperTree and ascended up to Indochine, the rooftop bar. It was 9pm by then and the bar was relatively empty save for a few couples enjoying the view.
The circular rooftop was lined with comfortable cushions to lounge on with a drink in hand, and the city view as its backdrop. We had some drinks and some truffled fries as a bar snack. Drinks were so-so, but with a view like that, it’s worth a visit. A S$18 applies for the bar, which includes a drink.
Nearest MRT: Bayfront MRT (Circle Line) – though shuttle buses run through Marina Bay MRT as well.
