S.E.A Aquarium is located at Resorts World Sentosa’s Marine Life Park. It’s still very new, having only opened late last year. I hadn’t had the chance to have a look before the move to Shanghai, so decided to do so on my recent visit back. (Post Contains Video)
Being the largest aquarium in the world, it has pretty ambitious dreams too. The S.E.A. Aquarium almost brought in whale sharks. The biggest controversy surrounding it, started even before its official opening – several reports would come up if you just searched for S.E.A. Aquarium dolphins.
That aside, my friend Izzy and I had an amazing time inside the compound. For the most part, we often felt as though we were really underneath the ocean, diving along with these elegant creatures, without the actual diving. I never knew it could be this therapeutic. Near the end of the walk, there’s a panoramic tank of all the fishes you can ever think of (all the fishes I could ever think of, anyway. I’m not exactly the fish expert).
We stood there in a trance, gazing away at the fishes floating and swimming around us, like little magic sea fairies. I could stay there forever…until I realised the soft ambient oceanic music in the background probably was the main reason I felt so attached to the tank, and had to drag my friend away before it got any harder to leave.
All in all, I found it to be a fantastic way to spend 2 hours or so away from the sun and “under the sea” without getting wet. I would go back there in a heartbeat. Goodness knows how long I’d be entranced by the huge tank at the end, this time. I ended the evening at home, eating seafood…mmyeah, sorry.
Sidenote: The Adventure Cove is probably a terrific place to go if you’re a kid. Actually I was tempted to check the rides myself but the lack of time stopped me from doing so. But the kid in me shall have to wait.
For that something extra, there’re also the Ultimate Marine Experiences you can opt for, such as the Sea Trek, Shark Experience, or even the Open Ocean Dive (except it’s not really the open ocean but just the biggest aquarium in the world).
Directions: The easiest way to get here is via the boardwalk travellator along the Sentosa Gateway. Entrance to the island is only S$1 this way. If taking the Sentosa Express Monorail from Vivocity Level 3, stop at Waterfront Station (S$3).
Ticket price to enter S.E.A. Aquarium is S$38 for Adults, S$28 for Children and Senior Citizens.
